Emma

Physiotherapist / Clinic Manager

Emma Steenson trained in Belfast, Northern Ireland and is a fully qualified chartered physiotherapist. She has worked in Ireland, the UK, New Zealand and Australia specialisng in sports injuries and musculoskeletal medicine. Emma has worked extensively with a wide range of athletes from a variety of sporting backgrounds and has worked in private clinics and sports clubs. She has a particular interest in core stability, muscle imbalance and achilles tendinopathy.

Emma is a keen sportswomen herself and as well as running enjoys triathlon events and circuit training.

She is Bupa registered and is recognised by all major insurance schemes.

Physiotherapist

Andy has over 24 years experience having graduated with Bsc Glasgow in 1985. He has extensive experience of working with both in the NHS and private sector. This included working abroad for 2 years in Colorado , USA as well as in professional football for 5 years with a premiership team. His private work has also included working with elite athletes at the Central Institute of Sport.

His special interests are musculoskeletal conditions, particularly sports injuries and rehabilitation.

Shona

Shona

Physiotherapist

Shona trained in Edinburgh and is a Health Professions Council (HPC) registered, chartered physiotherapist. She has experience in a wide range of settings including NHS, private sports injury clinics and orthopaedic rehabilitation.

Shona has a post-graduate diploma in manual therapy and is currently undertaking research work as part of her MSc qualification. She has a keen interest in lower limb biomechanical injuries and chronic pain management.

Shona is BUPA registered and recognised by Standard Life insurance scheme.

Iain

Iain

Physiotherapist

Iain qualified from Edinburgh University with a BSC (Hons) in Applied Sport Science and went on to complete a MSc in Physiotherapy from Glasgow Caledonian University. He is a fully qualified chartered physiotherapist.

He has a wide range of skills in treating a range of musculoskeletal conditions in patients of all ages and from all levels of activity. He has experience of working within the NHS and the private sector.

Iain is a competitive long distance runner and is an active member of his local running club. He has previous national and district representative honours in track and cross country running. Due to his involvement in sport Iain has a good knowledge base in preparing for athletic performance, conditioning for injury prevention and is able to provide sports specific rehabilitation.

He is BUPA registered and is recognised by some of the major health insurance schemes.

Physiotherapist

Jenny graduated with a BSc (hons) degree in Physiotherapy from Queen Margaret University College in Edinburgh.

She has a wide range of musculoskeletal experience through her work in the NHS, private sports injury clinics and with semi-professional rugby players. She recently completed a one year course at Glasgow Caledonian University leading to a post-graduate certificate in manual therapy. Jenny has a keen interest in all muscloskeletal conditions from acute sports injuries to chronic lower back pain. In addition to running she enjoys keeping fit through body combat classes and yoga.

Kathryn

Kathryn

Physiotherapist

Kathryn trained in Glasgow, qualifying in 2000 from Glasgow Caledonian University with a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy. She is HPC registered and a chartered Physiotherapist.

Kathryn has been working in Physiotherapy for over 9 years, predominantly in the NHS. In recent years she has specialised in musculoskeletal outpatients and orthopaedics. She has specific interests in sports injuries, chronic pain management and vestibular rehabilitation. She is a member of The Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics (ACPOHE) and the Physiotherapy Pain Association (PPA) North.

Kathryn enjoys running, playing squash and golf.

Podiatrist

Brian is a fully qualified HPC, state registered Podiatrist with a Post graduate in Biomechanics. He has been qualified for ten years and has worked in both the NHS and Private sector.

He currently works in a range of sites from NHS, Private Clinics to working with all levels of professional footballers at Celtic Football Club.

Brian specialises in biomechanical assessments, provision of custom made orthoses, footwear advice and rehabilitation advice for lower limb injuries.

Podiatrist

Elaine graduated from the Glasgow School Of Podiatry in 1988 and has worked in both the NHS and private sector. She has experience in all aspects of podiatry management. Her areas of special interest are in biomechanics and orthopaedics. She attained her MSc in clinical Podiatric biomechanics at Staffordshire University in 2004 and has continued her studies in the field of biomechanics and orthopaedics in this time.

Chiropody

The clinic has two practitioners male and female with extensive knowledge on all traditional chiropody.

All forms of chiropody are undertaken from:

  • Nail cuts
  • Hard skin
  • General Foot Care Advice
  • In-growing toe nails

A routine chiropody appointment will last approximately 30 minutes which includes a full treatment and comprehensive medical history taken, with further advice given when necessary.

Christine is a fully qualified sports massage therapist and personal trainer. She has 16 years experience in the health and fitness industry and has been massaging and treating sports injuries full time for four years.

Christine has an all round interest in sports; as well as running she enjoys gym, hillwalking, skiing and mountain biking.

Christine has worked in the shop for six years, dealing with specialist running shoes and gait analysis and helps to keep our customers injury free with regular massage.

Graeme

Graeme

Graeme is a fully qualified and insured sports massage therapist and fitness trainer! He has over 10 years experience in the health and fitness industry, most recently spending 5 years as massage therapist to some of Scotland's top football teams!

Since leaving full time employment in football in 2005, Graeme has been a freelance massage therapist and has enjoyed the greater variation of working in the clinic here at Achilles Heel while also continuing to work privately with professional athletes and having the fantastic experience of spending a month as a therapist at the African Nations Football Cup in Egypt in 2006!

Graeme also has a keen interest in keeping fit through gym, running and mountain biking!

Caroline

Caroline

Caroline is a fully qualified sports therapist and pilates instructor. She has over 11 years experience in the health and fitness industry and over 7 years experience as a sports therapist.

In addition to sports massage she is qualified in a number of holistic therapies including reflexology and Indian Head Massage.

Caroline enjoys keeping fit by running, cycling and regular gym sessions.

Michelle

Michelle

Michelle is a sports massage therapist from Shetland. She is currently taking two years out of full time teaching to concentrate on training for the 10,000m at the 1022 Island Games. Michelle specialises in treating not only elite athletes but also recreational sports people and the general public. She is trained to the highest level, holding an ITEC qualification and is a full member of the Sports Massage Association.

Phil

Phil

Phil Turner trained in Brisbane at the Australian College of Natural Medicine and is a fully qualified Sports/Remedial Massage Therapist.

Phil is currently working with Kilmarnock Football Club. He has worked with professional rugby league, Australian Rules football and Women's Australian Softball. He has also worked in a variety of Sport Injury Clinics.

Phil is a member of Platinum Fitness Training where he works on his strength and conditioning and enjoys running and playing football. Phil's treatments range from preventative injury massage sessions to help and advice for chronic pain, injury or range of motion issues.

Gordon

Gordon

Fully qualified Sports Masseur with over 12 years experience, Gordon has worked closely with professional football and rugby teams, as well as clients from tennis, hockey, golf and running clubs. Specialising in sports injuries and related conditions.

Recently given up full time employment to work as a freelance sports therapist Gordon offers deep tissue sports massage, postural assessment, muscle stretching techniques, muscle strengthening and core stability.

Gordon regularly attend courses each year to keep up to date with modern advances, new techniques and research.

Passionate about sport and exercise, Gordon is also a Personal Trainer who teaches spin and circuit classes. He enjoys playing football, mountain biking and running.

Karyn

Karyn

Karyn has been a Fully Qualified Sports Massage Therapist since 2006. She works with people from all sporting backgrounds and has gained invaluable experience for the past 2 working with Athletes from the Scottish Institute of Sport.

Karyn has been teaching Golf full time since 2002, she is a fully qualified PGA Golf Professional and is also a Certified Titleist Performance Institute Golf Fitness Instructor. This allows her to screen golfers to ascertain their Golf Specific Fitness and to provide a suitable improvement programme.

In addition to her passion for golf, Karyn is a keen sports enthusiast and attends the gym on a regular basis. She is currently training to become a Personal Trainer.

Dietitian

Nathalie is our resident dietitian who can advise on optimising your diet to improve your health and training potential. She graduated in exercise physiology and nutrition before qualifying as a dietitian in Glasgow and has worked as both a dietitian and personal trainer over the past 7 years. She has been a runner for over 10 years, running races over a variety of distances, including five London marathons and sprint triathlons.

Benjamin is a health and wellbeing professional qualified in Neuro Linguistic Programming, Eriksonian Hypnotherapy, Holistic Lifestyle Coaching, Stress Management, and Sports Nutrition. In addition to this he is a Master Personal Trainer and Sports Massage Therapist.

Benjamin's private work involves him helping busy clients balance stressful lifestyles and pressure with relaxation, outdoor exercise and holistic wellbeing in and around Glasgow. Past careers as a Commercial Manager and Armed Forces Officer allows Benjamin to be empathetic and understanding with busy clients while offering a broad range of personal change and motivational skills. Ben particularly enjoys working with clients who would like to quit smoking, manage their stress levels and lose weight.
